[News Update] WWE Bringing Back Several Former 80's Star?
After being let go by WCW in 1991, Gibson briefly turned up in WWE in 1993 as a part of a Smoky Mountain Wrestling invasion angle. He then turned up again in WCW in 1996 for a brief run because Eric Bischoff was signing practically any wrestler with name value. Gibson turned up in WWE again in 1998 as a part of the short-lived NWA angle, but disappeared as soon as the angle ended. Gibson made a one-night appearance in WCW in 2000 on an episode of WCW Saturday Night. Immediately after Hacksaw Jim Duggan found the WCW Television Championship in a trash can, Robert Gibson came out of nowhere and challenged him to a title match later in the show. Gibson lost the match and was never seen in WCW again. In 2003, Gibson briefly turned up in TNA as a member of Vince Russo's Sports Entertainment Xtreme faction. Gibson was brought in as an assistant trainer at OVW last December.
