[Breaking News] Several Legends Released from Legends Championship Wrestling
LCW Founder Christian Calaway said in a statement to LegendsChampionshipWrestling.com, "There's no other reason for these legends' releases other than the fact that we simply don't have anything for them creatively right now and we prefer to focus on other legends."
About Rip Morgan, who spent his month in Legends Championship Wrestling as the manager of the Sheepherders, Calaway said, "We brought Rip Morgan in for one reason and one reason only and it didn't work out so we've decided to let him go. We look forward to featuring him again in the future when a spot becomes available for him."
About Dark Journey, who spent her time in Legends Championship Wrestling as the valet of Koko B. Ware during his time in the Brothahood and eventually became a divisive figure in the group as jealously over her began to split the group apart, Calaway said, "Dark Journey was also brought in for only one reason and one reason only, but unlike Rip Morgan's role, her role exploded and worked perfectly for the storytelling purposes that we brought her in for. I really look forward to featuring Dark Journey in the future."
About Tom Zenk, who was last week on LCW Showdown two weeks ago in a pre-taped message thanking the fans for their support and said he was leaving to take care of his on-screen girlfriend Sunshine, Calaway said, "Tom Zenk has been involved in some great storylines since debuting in LCW last July. He was involved with a fun Missy Hyatt storyline where she had a little crush on him. He turned heel on Strike Force in a great storyline which hinted at his past in the Can-Am Connection with Rick Martel. He turned face again and started this relationship storyline with Sunshine which simply wasn't going where were wanted it to go and wasn't generating the interest we thought it would so we decided to drop the storyline. I really liked Tom Zenk, always have, and of any of the legends that we released today, he'll be featured again in LCW before any of the others."
About Sunshine, who debuted as a surprise tag team partner for Rockin' Robin several months ago, was immediately put into a storyline with Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin and Precious and Tom Zenk, Calaway said, "Sunshine was another legend who was brought in for one storyline and it didn't get over quite as we planned and we decided to go in another direction and that didn't work out either. Sometimes it just doesn't work out, but Sunshine could be back at any time." The releases have been expected for some time as Calaway has said in the past that there are too many legends on the roster and more are expected to come.
Also of note, Marty Jannetty was removed from the roster last week, but no reason was announced for his release or even if he was released. At this moment, Jannetty's status in LCW is unsure, but one can assume he was released, but for whatever reason it wasn't announced by the Board of Directors. Jannetty hasn't been seen in Legends Championship Wrestling since the January 9th episode of LCW Showdown when he teamed with the Rock 'n' Roll Express in a victory over the Sheepherders and Rip Morgan.
