LCW Breaking Point 2009 Pay-Per-View Preview

I would like to first introduce myself. I’m Matthew Saye, and I will be the official preview writer for Legends Championship Wrestling shows. It’s a privilege and honor to be working in Legends Championship Wrestling.

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time once again for another Legends Championship Wrestling pay-per-view extravaganza: LCW Breaking Point, which comes to you live this Sunday, March 22nd, 2009. Below is the complete card, plus predictions from yours truly. So let’s get started, shall we?

LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys vs. Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater (with Col. Robert Parker):
The Nasty Boys became the LCW World Tag Team Champions at the LCW Endgame 2008 pay-per-view last December and since then they have proved a formidable force in the tag team ranks of Legends Championship Wrestling. It was only through Col. Robert Parker’s betrayal of his apparent love interest, Maw Bass, that he was able to get his team, Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater an LCW World Tag Team Championship title shot. This begs the question to me, as I’m sure it does to you; if Parker was willing to turn on his love interest, what will he be willing to do in order to make sure that Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater become LCW World Tag Team Champions?

Official Prediction: Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater to become the new LCW World Tag Team Champions.

LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Powers of Pain (with Mr. Fuji) vs. Kendo Nagasaki and the Great Kabuki in a titles vs. careers match:
If anything on the LCW Breaking Point 2009 pay-per-view is going to be viewed as a “big match”, this would certainly be that match. Kendo Nagasaki and the Great Kabuki have put their careers on the line, for a chance to become the LCW United States Tag Team Champions. Mr. Fuji is desperate to rid himself of his former charges, Kabuki and Nagasaki, who turned on Fuji several weeks ago after he cost them a victory and then blamed them for the loss. It’s a risk and reward situation for the team, as Kabuki and Nagasaki put their livelihoods on the line, all to become champions. For the Powers of Pain, it’s all about staying on the mountain top and leaving the Staples Center still the LCW United States Tag Team Champions. And of course, we must ask, will Mr. Fuji play a factor in this match?

Official Prediction: Kabuki and Nagasaki MUST win this match and become LCW United States Champions.

Don Muraco vs. Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin (with Precious):

The tension between Don Muraco and Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin has been building for some time now, and will finally culminate at the LCW Breaking Point pay-per-view this Sunday. It’s a match about respect, it’s a score to be settled. But like with the LCW United States Tag Team Championship match, will Precious become a problem for Don Muraco?

Official Prediction: Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin to win the match.

Dr. Death Steve Williams vs. Barry Windham (With J.J. Dillon):
There can be no doubt in the hearts and the minds of any LCW fan, that Dr. Death Steve Williams has been a driving, destructive and very, very dominant force in Legends Championship Wrestling. At LCW Breaking Point this Sunday, Barry Windham will feel the full force of Dr. Death, when the two square off in the middle of the ring. This does not discount Windham’s ability to “get things done” in the ring. He has made a very much felt impact since making his return to Legends Championship Wrestling. Will this be enough to overcome the dominant force that is Dr. Death?

Official Prediction: Dr. Death to pick up the win.

The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez vs. One Man Gang:
A couple of weeks ago on LCW Showdown, the Raging Bull Manny Fernandez shook Terry Funk’s hand after a match between the two rivals, which saw Funk leave Legends Championship Wrestling to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. However, many have questioned Fernandez’s apparent “change of heart”. No-one expect Fernandez will ever know if that was genuine or not. Since that time, however, One Man Gang has questioned the Raging Bull, challenging that Fernandez had “gone soft”. We’ll find out at LCW Breaking Point this Sunday, if that in fact is true.

Official Prediction: The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez to get the victory.

Ken Patera and Sgt. Slaughter vs. The Bolsheviks (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie):
As a member of the Disciples of Allah, and with their help, Ken Patera secured the LCW United States Championship. However, after losing the title, General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie turned on Patera and kicked him out of the group. Since his departure from the group, Patera has been struggling within himself to see whether he can still achieve the success he had as a member of the Disciples of Allah. Recruiting the help of Sgt. Slaughter as a back-up, Patera will attempt to prove this Sunday at LCW Breaking Point that he is as good without them as he was with them. However, the Bolsheviks are no slouches themselves, being former LCW United States Tag Team Champions and they have a credible chance of coming out on top here, too.

Official Prediction: This is a harder one to predict, but; the Bolsheviks to come out on top.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express vs. The Long Riders (with Maw Bass):
With Maw Bass desperate to prove that her boys, the Long Riders are a formidable tag team in Legends Championship Wrestling, she has to be worried as they prepare to do battle with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express this Sunday. Bass’s boys lost a contenders match to Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater, else they would have been facing LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys this Sunday. As for the Rock ’n’ Roll Express, they recently returned and are looking to make a big impact in Legends Championship Wrestling. It remains to be seen if that can be done. If it can, Sunday at Breaking Point would be a great start.

Official Prediction: The Rock ’n’ Roll Express to be victorious as The Long Riders continue their bad luck streak.

LCW Television Champion Brutus Beefcake vs. Wildfire Tommy Rich

After repeatedly helping Brutus Beefcake to retain his LCW Television Championship, not to mention helping him to fight off Austin Idol and Hollywood John Tatum, Wildfire Tommy Rich felt betrayed and under appreciated when Beefcake denied him a shot at the LCW Television Championship. However, this Sunday at the LCW Breaking Point 2009 pay-per-view, Rich will get that shot against Beefcake, all that remains is for him to become the LCW Television Champion. Can he get it done? And what role will Missy Hyatt, Tatum, and Idol, who Rich has aligned himself with since turning on Beefcake, play in the match.

Official Prediction: Tommy Rich to become the new LCW Television Champion.

LCW Heritage Champion Kevin Sullivan (with Luna Vachon) vs. Paul Orndorff:
When Paul Orndorff refused former LCW Legend Ric Flair his spot in the Heritage title tournament a few months back, Flair and his group, The Four Horseman beat Orndorff down. This, while not being the entire reason, was a very good portion of the reason that Orndorff isn’t the current LCW Heritage Champion. Should this not have happened, there is a very good chance that Kevin Sullivan wouldn’t currently be holding the prestigious belt. We’ll only have to wait until this Sunday to see whether the former LCW Universal Champion Paul Orndorff can once again taste the gold once again.

Official Prediction: Paul Orndorff will pull one out and become LCW Heritage Champion.

LCW United States Champion Tito Santana vs. Rick Martel:
There can be no questioning the history between LCW United States Champion Tito Santana and Rick Martel. The two men go back many years, as far back as the WWF when they were a dominant duo as Strike Force. It took 20 years for Santana to once again trust Martel, after Martel left Santana to fight for himself in a match against The Brain Busters at WrestleMania V. The decision to trust Martel again would be a decision that Santana would regret. After winning the LCW United States Championship while Martel was injured, Martel became jealous and eventually turned on Santana after Santana wanted to focus on singles competition. Could decision that COULD cost Santana the LCW United States Championship this Sunday night at LCW Breaking Point.

Official Prediction: Tito Santana to retain the LCW United States Championship.

LCW International Champion Tully Blanchard (with Baby Doll) vs. Diamond Dallas Page:
Diamond Dallas Page has vowed that he would take out the Horseman and started targeting them one by one. This Sunday, he attempts to do just that, when he faces LCW International Champion Tully Blanchard for the strap. Can DDP take the title and take out Blanchard all in one night? We’ll find out this Sunday when LCW returns to pay-per-view.

Official Prediction: Diamond Dallas Page to win the match.

LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA vs. The Great Muta:
The Great Muta is a former IWGP Champion, which brings a lot of credibility with him as he attempts to take the LCW Universal Championship away from current proprietor Magnum TA. TA is the current, and longest reigning Champion in Legends Championship Wrestling history, as he surpasses Stone Cold Steve Austin with his reign atop the mountain in LCW. However, with The Great Muta’s endless list of credentials, not to mention the green, red and black mist that Muta has used on the Champion time and time again on Showdown recently, Magnum’s reign is in dire jeopardy this Sunday. It was only this past week on LCW Showdown that Magnum was spewed in the eyes by Muta’s deadly black mist, causing some concern, and doubt as to whether Magnum will have full vision heading into this Sunday’s Breaking Point 2009 pay-per-view. Don’t discredit Magnum, as he has been a fighting Champion in LCW, taking on any and all comers who step in his way. Leaving a trail of defeated foes in his wake as his reign as Champion rolls into Breaking Point this Sunday. Will we witness the end to the incredible Magnum TA era, or will a new chapter in the Champions begin this Sunday?

Official Prediction: The Great Muta becomes LCW Universal Champion, thus ending Magnum TA‘s long and illustrious title reign.

Final Thoughts:
All in all, LCW Breaking Point 2009 is a can’t miss for any and all fans of Legends Championship Wrestling. The unpredictability, volatility and full-on chaos is sure to be a very prominent feature to this years edition of LCW Breaking Point. It’s this Sunday, don’t miss out!
