LCW Torment 2009 Pay-Per-View Preview

A new month is upon us and so is the 2009 edition of the LCW Torment pay-per-view. Let’s get straight down to business and preview this year’s card, shall we?

LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys vs. One Man Gang and Manny Fernandez: It was a few weeks ago on LCW Showdown that One Man Gang and King Kong Bundy won the right to face LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys at LCW Torment. However, the following week, King Kong Bundy injured himself during a tag team match with the Hart Foundation, forcing One Man Gang to find a new tag team partner. Enter the Raging Bull Manny Fernandez! What makes this situation even more interesting? One month earlier, the Raging Bull and Gang collided at the LCW Breaking Point pay-per-view. Why would Fernandez help Gang? Is it purely to become a Champion in Legends Championship Wrestling, or was there a true offering of an olive branch between Gang and Fernandez? One thing’s for sure, this Sunday they will meet the LCW World Tag Team Champions and only one team can be the champions.
Prediction: The Nasty Boys to retain the titles.

LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Powers of Pain (with Mr. Fuji) vs. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express: When Mr. Fuji issued an open challenge to any team in Legends Championship Wrestling to face his team, the Powers of Pain, there were two things that he wasn’t expecting: 1) it would be The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express to accept that challenge. 2) That they would defeat the Powers of Pain in a non-title match. While that match wasn’t for the titles, they will on the line this Sunday at the LCW Torment pay-per-view. Which team can walk out champions?
Prediction: The Rock 'n' Roll Express become the LCW United States Tag Team Champions.

Sgt. Slaughter vs. Abdullah the Butcher (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie): During the LCW Television Championship tournament, General Skandor Akbar took his former charge Kan Patera out of the tournament with a fireball to the face. While Patera wanted revenge, he was not allowed it after medical officials told LCW General Manager Eric Bischoff Patera couldn’t compete. Like any good friend, Sgt. Slaughter stepped up and will face Abdullah The Butcher, the man Patera was facing in the tournament, in a one-on-one match. This past week on LCW Showdown, Patera vowed that, upon his return, he would take his revenge against the Disciples of Allah. The question is, when?
Prediction: Sgt. Slaughter pulls one out for his friend, Ken Patera.

Dr. Death Steve Williams vs. Diamond Dallas Page: If you had told me one month ago that I would be previewing this match, I would have laughed at you. Because one month ago, Dr. Death and DDP were seemingly on the same page. However, it was at the LCW Breaking Point pay-per-view last month that Williams cost DDP his shot at winning the LCW International Championship from it’s then, and current proprietor Tully Blanchard. The following week on Showdown, Page would show his true colors, aligning himself with LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner, LCW General Manager Eric Bischoff and Bill Goldberg. This past week, Williams was defeated by Goldberg, and later showed up to help Magnum TA during a post match beat down that involved DDP and Goldberg. What will happen between these two at LCW Torment this Sunday?
Prediction: With the roll he's been on, and Dr. Death's broken arrow approach to the Spear, DDP will win this Sunday!

LCW United States Champion Rick Martel vs. Don Muraco: When Magnificent Don Muraco helped former LCW United States Champion Tito Santana, as the current LCW United States Champion Rick Martel attempted to beat Santana down, it immediately lit a fire under Martel. Now, the two men prepare to compete for the title. And while Muraco may be trying to avenge his fallen friend Santana, one has to believe he’d also love to be called the LCW United States Champion.
Prediction: Don Muraco becomes the new LCW United States Champion.

Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater (with Col. Robert Parker) vs. The Long Riders (with Maw Bass) in a double bullrope match: In what could be known as one of the more interesting feuds in recent memory, Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater prepare to take on The Long Riders in a double bullrope match at LCW Torment this Sunday. A few months ago, Col. Robert Parker, manager of Orton and Slater fell into a romance of-sorts with Maw Bass, the manager of The Long Riders. It was only when Parker double-crossed Bass to get Slater and Orton a title shot, that he scorned Bass. And as they say, hell hath no fury like the wrath of a woman scorned. This past week, the challenge was made from Maw Bass to Parker’s boys for the double bullrope Match. The match has been accepted, and it has been made official by LCW management. All that’s left, is for the match to go down. And it will… this Sunday!
Prediction: The Long Riders get the victory.

LCW Heritage Champion Kevin Sullivan (with Luna Vachon) vs. Nikita Koloff: In a match made official just this past week on LCW Showdown, through Nikita Koloff defeating Barry Windham to earn the opportunity, the Russian Nightmare looks to win gold this Sunday at LCW Torment, as he takes on Kevin Sullivan. Koloff, however, isn’t the only one after Sullivan, as Paul Orndorff also desired this opportunity. Thanks to LCW General Manager Eric Bischoff, Koloff will get the shot. Can he make the most of it, and become the LCW Heritage Champion?
Prediction: Kevin Sullivan to retain.

LCW Television Champion Wildfire Tommy Rich (with Missy Hyatt) vs. Austin Idol: After turning on Brutus Beefcake a few months ago and forming an alliance with Austin Idol and Hollywood John Tatum, Wildfire Tommy Rich, with help from Idol and Tatum, won the LCW Television Championship. Idol and Tatum wanted to know who would be the first man to be given a title shot. A tournament was ordered by the LCW Board of Directors to determine the new number one contender for the LCW Television Championship. Idol and Tatum were both determine to win the tournament and made it to the finals, where Idol beat Tatum to become the new number one contender. However, Tatum and Rich attacked Idol, almost delivering a odd sense of punishment for winning the tournament. The following week, Rich apologized and offered a handshake to Idol, seemingly as an invitation to rejoin the group, and Idol took it. However, it was to be a short-lived reunion as blasted Rich with a chair during a title rematch with Beefcake. Will Idol be able to secure his first title in LCW or will Rich prove that he didn't need Idol or Rich to win the LCW Television Championship.
Prediction: Wildfire Tommy Rich to retain with help from Missy Hyatt and Wildfire Tommy Rich.

LCW International Champion Tully Blanchard (with Baby Doll) vs. Paul Orndorff: Last week on LCW Showdown, Paul Orndorff asked LCW General Manager Eric Bischoff for a shot at the LCW Heritage Championship, but we think he wanted to get his hands on Kevin Sullivan more than the title. Bischoff did him one better and gave him a shot at the LCW International Championship, instead. The question on everyone's mind at LCWrestling.com is if Orndorff can stay out of Sullivan's match and if Sullivan can stay out of Orndorff's match. Something tells us they won't be able to resist interfereing in each other's matches, but we'll have to wait until Sunday to find out. Can Orndorff become the LCW International Champion for a fourth time this Sunday? Or will Tully Blanchard’s reign as Champion continue?
Prediction: Tully Blanchard to retain the title.

LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA vs. Bill Goldberg:
Finally, the main event of LCW Torment, as the longest-reigning LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA defends the coveted belt against Bill Goldberg, in what is sure to be a clash of the titans. Magnum, who won the belt at SuperClash last year, already has his name etched in LCW history forever, this Sunday, he hopes to continue his title reign by defeating Goldberg. One month ago, Goldberg made a shocking arrival to Legends Championship Wrestling, getting himself involved in a melee at the LCW Breaking Point pay-per-view, at the behest of the media baron and LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner. Goldberg certainly caught the attention and the ire of the LCW Universal Champion, and when Turner managed to twist the arm of the Board of Directors to get Goldberg the shot, fear was struck into the hearts of every Magnum TA fan that he could lose the championship. Never count Magnum out, however, as he has been a dominating force in Legends Championship Wrestling. It all comes down to this Sunday at the LCW Torment pay-per-view when Goldberg challenges Magnum TA.
Prediction: Goldberg becomes the new LCW Universal Champion.
