[LCWrestling.com Exclusive] Can Ted Turner Be Trusted?

He is the man who took over WCW. He is the man who nearly ran Vince McMahon and the WWE out of business. And now, he is once again the Chairman of the Board in Legends Championship Wrestling. Of course, we’re talking about Ted Turner.

Turner’s history with Legends Championship Wrestling, in particular as Chairman of the Board, is well documented. Having held the position before, in late 2005-early 2006 when he, along with his ‘Administration’ held LCW captive, and nearly ran the company into the ground. It was only when LCW Founder, and original LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway made a shocking return to Legends Championship Wrestling, that he regained the position and drove Turner away.

Now, nearly three years later, it seems to be a case of déjà vu for some LCW fans. A few months back on LCW Showdown, the LCW Board of Directors appeared on the broadcast and announced that, as Calaway was failing to fulfil his duties as Chairman, they were replacing him with Turner. Calaway hasn't been heard or seen from since being investigated by the US Securities and Exchange Commission for insider trading, an investigation that was dropped due to insufficent evidence.

Given Turner’s past history with the position, fans were confused by the decision. Turner furthered the doubts that he was a “changed man” by welcoming Bill Goldberg into Legends Championship Wrestling, and together with LCW General Manager Eric Bischoff and Diamond Dallas Page, they have formed what has been dubbed (but not officially embraced by the group) the "Evil Empire" by Tony Schiavone on a recent edition of LCW Showdown.

However, it was this past week on Showdown, during a meeting with the Board of Directors that Turner reassured them that he was only trying to deliver the best possible entertainment value for the fans of Legends Championship Wrestling. And while it remains to be seen if this is the case, it will continue to be in the back of the mind of every LCW fan whether Turner has changed his ways.
