[Breaking News] Ted Turner Files Injunction to Stop Murdoch, Showdown Move

This morning, lawyers for Turner filed for an injunction against Legends Championship Wrestling, Inc., to prohibt the sale of any of the company's properties to Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation and to prohibit the move of LCW Showdown, LCW's weekly television show, to one of Murdoch's television networks. With the move of Showdown to a new network, Turner would be vulnerable to a Board vote for removal as Chairman of the Board.
With Turner's questionable past as Chairman, Turner was reinstalled to the position a second time with the expressed agreement that Showdown would remain on his network and any removal of the show from his network could lead to a Board vote for his removal. Turner recently announced that LCW Showdown would be placed on hiatus. While a return date of September 9th was announced, many don't think Turner will actually renew the show for continued airing on his network. With that fear in mind, Calaway contacted Murdoch about moving the show to one of his networks and the two discussed a more substantial investment in Legends Championship Wrestling from News Corp.
In an interview, Calaway said his self-imposed exile, and the resulting removal as Chairman of the Board after an investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission was, "the biggest mistake of my life." The investigation generated no results and was eventually dropped. Calaway, embarassed by the situation remained in exile until after Turner was named as Chairman.
Turner's death grip on Legends Championship Wrestling since Calaway's return seems stronger than ever and he seems consumed by a desire to retain control of the company, say insiders. An insider close to Turner said, "Something about this company drives him to insanity. It's almost as if he never got over losing World Championship Wrestling and he'll do anything to hold onto to LCW."
In a statement released by his office, Ted Turner said that he "can't understand what Calaway is worried about" and that "Showdown will remain on my network as long as I'm Chairman of the Board." Many feel that with Calaway trying to oust Turner as Chairman he's trying to secure Showdown's future either on Turner's network, where he'd like the program to stay, or on Murdoch's network if Turner decides to try to cancel the show if he is ousted as Chairman.
