[Feature Story] Surviving the Survival Project: A Golden Opportunity

The LCW Survival Project is perhaps, aside from LCW SuperClash, the most exciting pay-per-view event of the year. This year's event was no different.

The Survival Project is a revolutionary concept, giving 2 men out of 50 the chance at the top two prizes in Legends Championship Wrestling: the LCW Universal Championship and the LCW International Championship. This year's tournament was won by a man world renowned for being, for lack of a better term, vicious and maybe even a little psycho, that man's name being Sid Vicious. Vicious, the 50th entrant into the Survival Project scored the final pinfall of the evening, earning himself a shot at the coveted LCW Universal Championship.

At a shade under seven-foot tall, Vicious has made his name in LCW as a machine of destruction, going through everyone in his path. His sights are now firmly set on one man, the man who wears the biggest crown in LCW: Stone Cold Steve Austin. Vicious is no stranger to championships, having won the WCW and WWF titles twice respectively. Certainly a tall and tough order for the reigning champion.

Austin's journey back to the belt began when he returned to help LCW Founder Christian Calaway in fending off Ted Turner. Although Austin would be unsuccessful in his first attempt, at LCW SuperClash, he would become LCW Universal Champion one month later, defeating Turner's representative Goldberg. It would be a month later that Austin, on Team Calaway in a WarGames Match at LCW Caged Heat, helped Calaway regain control of the company.

It has to be known that when Austin and Vicious finally collide for the LCW Universal Title, the world will never forget it. But who will walk out champion?

Bill Goldberg will also get something out of the LCW Survival Project. As a result of scoring the most eliminations in the evening, eleven (for those counting), but not winning the tournament at the end of the night, Goldberg gets a shot at the LCW International Championship – currently held by Dr. Death Steve Williams.

These two men are very similar when it comes to competition. Goldberg stands 6'4" and weights 285lbs. Williams is 6'2" and weights 280lbs. Goldberg had an impressive undefeated streak in WCW, using his infamous Spear to establish an historic 173-0 undefeated streak. Williams often likes to use his three-point stance shoulder block to put down his opponents. They've booth been as successful in the squared circle as they were on the gridiron.

As evenly matched as these two behemoths may be, there's one thing that's sure: a collision course will ensue when they meet for the LCW International Championship.

As has been proven many times, the LCW Survival Project is a most unpredictable event. But can Sid Vicious and Bill Goldberg prove that all their hard work wasn't for nothing, when they get their golden opportunities for their respective titles? Stay tuned to Legends Championship Wrestling as Sid Vicious and Bill Goldberg continue on their road to gold.
